  1. Hi,

I can’t find a ticker symbol that works for DOW or S&P500, what should I use?

    Thanks,
    Steve

    • OK, I figured it out, you can only have the ^ symbol as part of the ticker symbol name, no $ or . before the name, I guess it depends on the feed you are using.

      Thanks for the GREAT update!!

      Steve

  2. Hi,

One other question, on the ticker I see an extra 0.00 N/A (N/A) scrolling by for no reason, is that a bug, something I can remove or what?

    Thanks,

  3. Here is a screenshot of what I mean http://screencast.com/t/msmd59taKR

  4. OK,

New request, is there a way you can make the next release become just a systray icon and not take up space on the task bar?

  5. OK,
Another new request, would it be possible for U to display a list of symbols that have been added, to make it easier to delete or even possibly edit an already listed symbol in a next release?

    Thanks for listening..

  6. OK,

Can you make an option for the ticker to start with windows?

    • WOW, it does start with Windows, sorry, didn’t think it did!!

      • Hi Steve,

I’m glad you liked the update.

We were hoping a bigger release. But as it turns out, we were over ambitious. The competition has been around for years, we can’t hope to match them in a few months :)

The goal now is to make small regular updates.

        Thanks again,
        Mohan

  7. Hi Mohan,

I appreciate the hard work you are doing, believe me things are coming along nicely. Two problems with the current release I see:

    1. In task manager Javaw.exe*32 is a CPU hog when your Stockticker is running.
    2. My windows 7 X64 will not restart with your stockticker running, I MUST force a restart for a reboot to happen, have U seen this?

    Thanks,
    Steve

    • Hi Steve,

I’m sorry about the bugs, I’m sure we can do something to fix this in the next release.

      1) What percent of CPU is it using?

      2) No. Is the problem only with restart? Does it work if you shutdown?

      Thanks,
      Mohan

      • Hi Mohan,

JavaW is using like 6-10% of CPU which on my PC is a lot since unless something is running a scan, the CPU usage is like 1 or 2%

The shutdown problem is the same for restart or shutdown, I have to Force down Stockticker7 either way.

When are you planning the next release, this software is STILL GREAT?

        Steve

        • Hi Steve,

The next release is scheduled for the first week of June.

We’ll optimize it to reduce the CPU usage and look into the shutdown problem.

          Thanks,
          Mohan

  8. Hi Mohan,

New problem today, the ticker is not showing the correct closing prices for DOW, S&P500 or NASDAQ. I closed it down and restarted it, it’s still not showing the correct prices. For instance the DOW is showing 12938.37 on your ticker but the DOW closed today at 12921.41.

Looking forward to next release in June, hope you can get lots of nice NEW things and some fixes as well!

    Steve

  9. Mohan,

This is the 2nd day in a row when the Ticker is not showing the actual closing numbers on the DOW, S&P500 & NASDAQ, any idea why that is?

    Steve

    • Steve,

Dow, S&P and Nasdaq are offset by 2mins from the closing number. This is why you see a slight difference. We will be resolving this as well.

      Thanks,
      Mohan

      • Mohan,

Thank you, Thank you for the GREAT support you are offering on a FREE product, this Ticker is really amazing, I hope your are releasing it on Betanews, that will get you a broad base of people, again looking forward to your next release, any fixes, any enhancements!!
